This article is about the dog from G.I. Joe. For the Junkion from Generation 1, see Junkyard (G1).
Junkyard is a dog from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Junkyard is Mutt's trusty Rottweiler and a member of G.I. Joe. He has worked with Mutt for such a long time that they practically know what each other is thinking, and the two don't even need to rely on signals during missions anymore.

Fiction

Marvel Comics continuity

Junkyard and Mutt were among the Joes assigned to guard the Power Station Alpha. When the Dreadnoks attacked, Torch fired on Junkyard with a flamethrower, but missed. The Dreadnoks were eventually driven off, and Mutt left Junkyard to his own devices as the Joes had to escort Alpha during take-off. Junkyard approached a young boy named Tony Duranti, who happily offered to play frisbee with him. However, during their fun and games, Tony was suddenly mind-controlled into wandering in front of Alpha's tracks. Junkyard attempted to stop the boy by pulling at his pantsleg, to no avail. Blood on the Tracks When Superion arrived at the scene, Junkyard barked at the giant robot, but failed to intimidate him. Power Struggle

Along with Mutt and Quick Kick, Junkyard guarded the insides of the SPS Research Facility from a Cobra attack. He started barking upon noticing an invisible intruder, but was knocked out before his human companions could react. Junkyard was still unconscious when Mutt and Quick Kick woke up, and it's unknown if he survived when Firefly blew up the building. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers issue 3

Mutt and Junkyard participated in the attack on a Cobra smuggling facility in New York City. Targets of Opportunity

Notes

  • If Junkyard really did die at the hands of Zartan and Firefly in the Devil's Due comics, it wouldn't be the first time a dog was senselessly murdered in Transformers fiction. Or the second, for that matter.
