Do we need this page?

[edit]

Really, how is this to be distinguished from mold? --Khajidha 12:43, 3 November 2010 (EDT)

Ugh, wow, that is a bad page. I vote delete. --Detour 12:46, 3 November 2010 (EDT)
TFWiki.net uses the term in a way different than what the word actually means, so I think it should be defined. - Starfield 12:50, 3 November 2010 (EDT)
And that somehow excuses this horrible, horrible page? --Detour 12:53, 3 November 2010 (EDT)
It's tough describing what "sculpt" means. - Starfield 12:57, 3 November 2010 (EDT)
I don't see that we are using it in a unique sense. A figure's "sculpt" is the outcome of being formed from its mold, which is sculpted in the traditional sense. I ask again, what makes this page necessary in addition to the page on molds? --Khajidha 18:42, 3 November 2010 (EDT)
Yea, that's not what sculpt means except in fandom jargon (and probably other toys as far as I know). - Starfield 18:45, 3 November 2010 (EDT)
It's used that way when discussing mass produced "artwork" such as collectible figurines (like Precious Moments and such). The mold is sculpted and the product takes on its appearance from that sculpting. For shorthand it is said that the figurine has a particular sculpting, even though no chisel ever touched the figurine. I'm pretty sure it is used the same way when discussing cast bronze statuary as well, even if only one casting is ever made. --Khajidha 18:51, 3 November 2010 (EDT)
That sounds like good info for the "notes" section. I'm not up on my collectible figurine jargon either. - Starfield 19:02, 3 November 2010 (EDT)
The point is that "sculpt" is simply the outcome of the mold. Put a sentence to that effect on that page and redirect this to it. --Khajidha 19:07, 3 November 2010 (EDT)
