After the Great War, Megatron enlisted Scalpel to clone the Autobot's greatest scientific mind, Perceptor, in order to turn the intellect that won the war against the Autobots as part of Operation: Doppleganger. Despite Starscream's insistence that copying the Autobot scientist's design schematics would not be enough to turn defeat into victory, Megatron allowed the project to continue.
