The events of The Veiled Threat take place during IDW Publishing's Alliance comic.

A tiny Decepticon spy infiltrated the base, but was careless enough to alert a technician to its presence, leading the tech to sound an alarm. Corporal Wallace was among the soldiers who began searching for an intruder. He and two privates hunted through a utility closet before noticing a small red crab in the sink. Wallace mentioned with disgust that his wife had found one in the toilet a few days ago, and the trio went to search the next room, not realizing that they'd just seen the Decepticon spy they were looking for.
