Transportation mode

For Waspinator, a transportation mode just means more parts to get blown off.

A transportation mode is an extra mode specialized for transportation, above and beyond the normal vehicle mode or beast mode. The transportation mode usually features vehicle parts, such as wheels, wings, rotors, or a surfboard.

Of course, most Corvettes look like they can fly even without wings.

Tracks possesses a "flight mode".

Beast Wars

Almost all of the Transmetal characters have a transportation mode. It's sometimes referred to as flying mode, flight mode, or vehicle mode. (Or, if you're Rattrap, Knievel mode.)

The following Transmetal characters have a transportation mode:

Mace Chimpu.

• Optimus Primal (both Transmetal and "Optimal" forms)

In addition to the "transportation mode", Inferno has a "flying mode." Optimal Optimus has two transportation modes, called "Hypersonic Attack Mode" and "Ground Assault Mode".

The term "transportation mode" is called "vehicle mode" in the Japanese franchise Beast Wars Metals.

Cybertron

Optimus Prime has a flight mode.

Cybertronian Megatron's tank treads convert to hover engines.
