Rodimus (Energon)
Energon
Rodimus is a former commander on Cybertron and a captain of an exploration vessel. During the end of the first era, when the Transformers of Optimus Prime and Megatron's generation began to appear, Rodimus declared that war was destroying Cybertron. Rodimus vowed he would venture into space to find a new home, and all those who wanted the same could come along. Many Autobots and Decepticons would join him, among him were Prowl and Landmine, as well as the Transformers who would eventually evolve into the Omnicons. During his ventures into space, Rodimus become a legend, going world to world and liberating the innocent from the unjust.
Sometime in the past, before Unicron's birth in Armada, Rodimus recieved a distress from Alpha-Q's chancellor, Scorponok. Unicron had attacked the planets in their solar system and was nearing their planet. Rodimus was too late and Planet Q was detonated by Scorponok in an attempt to destroy Unicron, which failed.*
Rodimus would venture onward through space until learning of the rebirth of Alpha-Q. He would work in the shadows and eventually align himself with Alpha-Q to repay the debt of failing them when Unicron attacked. Rodimus could not understand Optimus Prime's fear of Unicron because he had no witnessed him first hand like the others on Cybertron during the Unicron Battles.
Rodimus would eventually show that he too had a spark of combination, and would fued with Optimus Prime shortly, before joining his side and regretting his ignorance towards Unicron. Rodimus surrendered is command to Optimus Prime, and they united as one army. Rodimus was one of the Transformers who would join Omega Prime's spark in defeating the giant Galvatron.
Notes
- Although the Energon dub states that the destruction of Planet Q put Unicron into a deep sleep, leading to the start of Energon, this is a part of confusion and a dub error. Rodimus' encounter with Unicron was prior to the events of Transformers Armada, as Alpha-Q states more than once that he was alone within Unicron's mind for ages upon ages. The state of Unicron at the beginning of Energon is due to the damage done to him in Armada.
- Unlike Transformers Cybertron, Super-Link was not specifically rewritten for Energon, but instead contains multiple translation errors and dropped plots. It is stated in Super-Link that Alpha-Q's homeworld being destroyed did not damage Unicron in the slightest, and instead, he was captive within Unicron for ages, until Unicron was depowered in Armada, allowing him to take over.
