Electro-disrupter
An electro-disrupter (also electro-disruptor) is a fairly uncommon Transformer device that can be used for a variety of effects. Most commonly, it sends out disruptive signals to make the Transformer equipped with the electro-disrupter appear someplace other than they are, possibly multiple locations. Furthermore, it can cause illusions to appear around the user's body, seemingly altering their physical appearance for a limited time.[1] A more advanced application of the same technology enables the user to fade into the background, effectively turning invisible.
An offensive electro-disrupter can short out or drain the power system of another Transformer, even possibly completely disabling them. The effectiveness of this attack is greatly diminished if the target is fully powered or shielded against such disruption.

Generation 1
Mirage is the best known wielder of an electro-disrupter, being capable of seemingly appearing elsewhere or changing his appearance for up to 6 minutes.[1] Sometimes he can use it to turn invisible.[2]
Smokescreen, being the master of disruption he is, wields an electro-disrupter rifle that shorts out electrical devices.[3]
The Keepers Trilogy novels
Sentinel Prime used an electro-disrupter to project several copies of his image and disorient his opponents in battle. When interrupted, electro-disrupter images de-rez, leaving a visible path back to the real projector. Since using direct attacks would reveal which image was the real Sentinel Prime, he would limit himself to indirect weapons like shrapnel shells when using it. Hardwired

In her Transmetal 2 body, Blackarachnia is equipped with an electro-disrupter in her... rear segment. Its illusions can change her location or appearance for up to 5 minutes.[4] Night Glider has a better one, capable of doing its job for 10 minutes.[5]
