Transformers: The War Within

A six-part miniseries written by Simon Furman, depicting the early days of the Autobot/Decepticon war. It was successful enough to lead to two sequel series.

Artist Don Figueroa redesigned dozens of Generation 1 characters for the series, giving them 'Cybertronic' vehicle modes: the designs for Optimus Prime, Thundercracker, and Megatron were made into toys in the Titanium Series toylines, and Starscream's was adapted into Unicron Trilogy Starscream's Cybertron form.

Errors

• On the back cover of the trade paperback collection, "Transformers", in one place, is spelled "Transfrormers".

Trivia

• Though the individual comics from Dreamwave were titled Transformers: The War Within, the collected volume from IDW is titled Transformers: War Within, possibly for trademark reasons.
