The Transformers cartoon

Millions of years ago, the Autobots and Decepticons lived together peacefully. The Decepticons' lust for power brought an end to this, and at first the battles they fought against the noncombative Autobots ended in their favor. Because of this, many Autobots fled Cybertron. Others opted to stay and fight back, coming up with new tactics inventions to compensate for their lesser warrior skills.

Millions of years later, Carly, Spike and Swoop found and watched history records on these events in an abandoned part of Cybertron. Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2

Notes

  • "Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2" seems to imply the Autobots invented transformation as a means to counter the Decepticons' superior strength, which is a story detail corroborated by the season 3 episode "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4". However, the history records start off with two scenes showing a good number of cars, all of different designs, during the pre-war days. The scenes certainly seem to imply those cars are alternate modes, but that would clash with the other implication, so take your pick whether they are Transformers or unliving vehicles.
  • Early on, a pink, a grey and a blue robot are used to represent the Decepticons starting the war. Confusingly, the pink and grey one later show up among a crowd of Transformers in a shot that coincides with the narration "[While many Autobots fled Cybertron, a few valiant survivors devised new tactics] and launched a counter-offensive on their arch foes. And thus began a terrible series of wars," suggesting them to be Autobots. The second sentence allows some room for them to be Decepticons, but still...
  • The blue guy that appears in the last few scenes has a coincidental resemblance to Tailgate (Tailgate's toy was released a year past the episode). As such, he could be a Mini Vehicle.
  • The red Transformer that appears in the first few scenes has a hip structure and way of moving that suggest them to be female.
  • The green Transformer seen in the first few scenes and a few other models show up again as corpses from long ago in "The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1". While likely not intended during production, these could very well represent the same characters.
