Dirge wishes he was a master of fear but he simply hasn't got the brains or courage to pull it off. Give him an Autobot with its back to him and he's a dangerous, heavily armed braggart, but they just won't oblige. He has grand plans of sowing terror throughout the Autobot/human alliance, of killing great war heroes in front of a terrified public, but it doesn't take much to send Dirge running for the hills, scared for his life.

Revenge of the Fallen toy bios

Dirge decided to hide out amongst the jets of NEST, thinking it the perfect place to start a campaign of terror. Probably not the smartest call he's ever made. A simple screw-up revealed himself, and now the Decepticon is constantly on the run from the Autobots Bumblebee and Armorhide. He fears for his life, knowing they can't get him in the sky, but he must touchdown onto the ground to refuel, and they'll be waiting for him there.

Dirge was Tankor's reinforcements, intended to take out any of the Autobots that turned up at the tank's siege. To Dirge's surprise and joy, Springer had turned: he could now bag a genuine war hero! The Decepticon did well when he just had to swoop down and make a surprise attack, but the Autobot Jolt got Dirge wounded by friendly fire. This one wound caused the big coward to fly off, leaving Tankor behind. Rules of Engagement

    • Japanese ID number: RD-22
    • Accessories: 2 missiles, 2 missile launchers
Dirge is a new-mold Deluxe Class toy that converts from a blue and gold cross between a Harrier and a F-4-like fighter-bomber jet into a blue, black, and gold robot. He has two spring-loaded missile launchers that mount under his wings or, in robot mode, onto his arms, though his left arm's kibble makes this an awkward fit. Dirge's Mech Alive gimmick is spinning gears on his chest when you lift his arms.
His design is based heavily on the original Dirge. Compared to the original, however, Dirge transforms very differently, consisting of an asymmetric torso and arm design, requiring most of Dirge's visual elements to be vestigial, such as the conehead and the small canopy (pseudokibble) window on his chest.
Dirge was shipped in two very similar shades of blue, with one lighter than the other. A rare run of this figure lacks paint applications in his face, featuring a completely black visage.
He was later redecoed into Jetblade.
