Clarke story The Sentinel, about an alien base on the moon with advanced technology, might have been an attempt to warn humanity about Sentinel Prime. - Arthur C. Clarke was a real person, considered a Grand Master of Science Fiction. He did indeed die a few years before the events of Dark of the Moon, in 2008.
