Along with his partner Optimus Prime, Chief Charlie Burns leads the Rescue Bots, a secret team of Autobots and humans that protect Earth from fires, floods, and crime. His tool of choice is the Rescue Cutter, which can tear down barriers between heroes and the danger they must extinguish. Little does his son Cody Burns know that Chief Charlie is hanging out with robots in disguise!

Early one morning at Fire Station Prime, Chief Charlie directed Heatwave to participate in a fire training exercise on the other side of town. After Heatwave left, Chief Charlie's son Cody arrived, eager to be given his own mission. However, Chief Charlie only trusted Cody with washing Sparkplug, the firehouse dog. Though dejected, Cody and Sparkplug were able to alert Chief Charlie to the presence of an electrical fire within Fire Station Prime itself! Trapped on the roof of the burning station, the Burnses struggled to activate the Prime Signal to call for help, until ultimately Cody was able to activate it manually. Heatwave quickly returned, and Chief Charlie's son was surprised to learn that their fire truck was actually a fire-fighting sentient robot! After the fire was extinguished and the group spoke with Optimus Prime via teleconference, Chief Charlie nodded with approval as his son was welcomed as a full member of the team. Prime Alert
