Specifics: Picture
The Synethetic Energon is a substance from the Prime portion of the Aligned continuity family.

Synthetic Energon, also known as Synth En, is a manufactured version of Energon which tended to resemble a greenish liquid form of Energon. Unrefined samples can provide greater energy efficiency but can be addictive and corrupt their users personality. So remember kids, don't do drugs!

Fiction

Prime cartoon

Knowledge on Synthetic Energon was one of many subjects recorded on Cybertronian data cylinders which were launched from Cybertron at the onset of the Great War in order to prevent the information from falling into the hands of the Decepticons. The cylinder containing the recorded data on making Synthetic Energon crashed on Earth where its contents were beamed directly into the brain of Bulkhead. This information began to overwhelm his neural net and he began painting the symbols of the chemical equation to produce the substance which Ratchet recognised as being a synthetic version of Energon. Bulkhead managed to inscribe much of the knowledge before the contents were ejected from his brain and sent into space. T.M.I.

The equations would be studied by Ratchet who attempted to refine the formula to create Synthetic Energon that would alleviate the Autobots own energy crisis as their own stockpiles of Energon were running low due to the constant conflict with the Decepticons. Initially, he studied on machines until a battle over an Energon deposit led to Ratchet injecting himself with the substance which supercharged his physica attributes. He decided to enter into the battlefield where he easily defeated the Decepticon Vehicons that nearly overwhelmed Arcee. Afterwards, he revealed his boosted strengths was due to Synth En which Optimus Prime disapproved of using without testing on machines. However, the Synth En began to affect Ratchet's mental stability as he became increasingly aggressive, arrogant and ruthless.

In his rage, he eventually went rogue and attacked a Decepticon mine in order to assault Megatron directly. He infiltrated the base and easily managed to best Breakdown in the fight where upon he confronted Megatron himself. Despite managing to knock the Decepticon leader back, Ratchet was easily beaten by Megatron who became curious on how the Autobot medic demonstrated improved physical strengths. Knock Out suggested a chemical enhancement and Megatron ripped a portion of Ratchet which began to leak Synthetic Energon. Ordering Knock Out to collect a sample, Megatron intended to replicate the substance in order to administer it to his troops. Whilst Knock Out managed to get a sample, an attack by Team Prime led him to be distracted and the wounded Ratchet managed to best the Decepticon scientist whereupon he shattered the container containing the Synthetic Energon. This combined with the arrival of the Autobots forced Knock Out to retreat.

At Autobot Outpost Omega One, Ratchet recovered after the loss of both Energon and Synthetic Energon where he confessed that the formula needed refinement whilst he excused his behavior as he wanted to be useful in battle. Though Prime felt that the formala was lost the Decepticons, a small sample was present at the battle site where it coated a plant with Knock Out nearby as he analysed it. Stronger, Faster
