Shortly after the Autobots appeared in Detroit, Lester reported on them helping out the fire department at a burning building. Following the defeat of Starscream, a grateful Black reported on their actions in protecting and helping to rebuild the damaged city. Transform and Roll Out Black covered the action as the Autobots attempted to keep the Dinobots from doing any more damage, by leading them away from the city. On another occasion, the Autobots tuned in in time for Lester Black to pass over to the News 44 helicopter, which was following a police chase. He noted that the streetlights behind the pursued vehicle seemed to be going dark. The Thrill of the Hunt Black also reported on the apprehending of Nanosec. Nanosec When Soundwave took control of Detroit's automatons, Lester Black was on hand to cover the story. After Lugnut and Blitzwing landed in Detroit, Black tried to cover their arrival, but his flying Camera Bots were destroyed by Lugnut. Lost and Found Lester Black also delivered a hard-hitting report on the contract dispute between the City of Detroit and Sumdac Systems that had resulted in the city's garbage backing up. - Lester was listed in the series credits as "News Anchor". His name comes from his model sheet.
- Before his name was revealed, fans wondered if he could be an Animated Hector Ramirez. The AllSpark Almanac would later invent such a link.
- He shares a surname with Prometheus Black. Coincidence? ... probably.
- In the Japanese dub, Black sports an obnoxiously shrill, high-pitched voice.
