Gyronian Sentry

The Gyronian Sentries were Autobots and Decepticons from the Generation 1 continuity family.

"If you conspire with every person who approaches you, you're not even really conspiring with anyone, you're just doing random crap."

Gyronian Sentries are, in theory, intensely loyal to Gyronia. Autobots who join the Gyronian Sentries are asked to abandon their appearance and identity as a show of their devotion. Most carry a Sorque Suspension Phaser that stuns a target by seizing his or her internals, but the growing Decepticon threat has inspired some of them to upgrade to a larger model.

So much of their processor is dedicated to following orders that it would be a simple task indeed to switch the direction of their loyalty with some sort of device.

While out walking one day, a hapless Gyronian Sentry was seized by Megatron's Robo-Smasher. Though he struggled, in mere moments it had altered his programming to serve the Decepticon cause. The machine released its victim, work complete, and the newly-programmed Decepticon affirmed his allegiance to Megatron. Megatron was pleased, and went on to use the device on the Constructicons. Wings Universe

In the early days of the war, a Gyronian Sentry was a member of constabulary in an area near Deathsaurus's base. He took the Combaticons into custody after the Elite Guard had captured them. Battle Lines, Part 4

A Gyronian Sentry was somehow turned to the Decepticon cause, serving Megatron. He released Deathsaurus from his chains before Megatron and Deathsaurus's ceremonial battle. Battle Lines, Part 5

Notes

• The Gyronian Sentry was a nameless generic from "The Secret of Omega Supreme" until Transformers Collector's Club #41 gave them a name and profile.
