I don't think the word "A" is officially part of the series name. The back cover of Decepticon Hijack has the following cross sell text:
The Transformers
Big Looker Storybooks
Look for these
best-selling titles too:
The Battle for Cybertron
The Great Car Rally
Insecticon Attack
