This article is about the Generation 1 human. For the Animated human, see Tommy Kennedy (Animated).
Tommy Kennedy is a human from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Remember me? I'm the kid who had a report due on "space". Then I got the new Encyclopedia Optimus-Primica.

Beyond the year 2006, Tommy Kennedy has a lot of school assignments to write. Amazingly, all his school assignments are about the Transformers, so he gets to sit in hellish wastelands with Powermaster Optimus Prime and ask him questions about their past adventures. After not too long, Prime must always hastily leave for some random off-the-cuff excuse, like helping Joyride fix the space bridge or to give Grimlock a brain upgrade. Tommy is not lonely in the barren, scorched-earth dust bowl full of wreckage and detritus of the horrors of war, though, because sometimes the Autobot leader leaves music videos for Tommy to watch.

Fiction

The Transformers cartoon

Actor: Jason Jansen
Those clouds never moved.

Kennedy was apparently a human resident of Autobot City, where he was both a student and a reporter for the Autobot City News. More than Meets the Eye, Part 1 Dark Awakening Kennedy considered Optimus Prime a close personal friend, and Prime generally seemed to share the feeling, humoring the boy's questions and allowing Kennedy to accompany him on various mundane tasks. Season 5 Although he had a stated dislike for history as an academic discipline, Kennedy was always ready to hear tales of the Transformers' battles on Earth and throughout the galaxy, requests which Prime acquiesced to on a regular basis. Look out, Tommy, he's EVIL Obama!

Despite (or perhaps due to) his close relationship with Optimus Prime, Kennedy faced troubles with bullies at school, and sometimes sought counsel from the wise Autobot commander. The Transformers: The Movie Kennedy was also a sensitive child, expressing great dismay at the thought that Optimus Prime could somehow forget his birthday. Surprise Party At one point, the impetuous Kennedy demanded to be allowed to go through the Headmaster process, although Prime's descriptions of the difficulties faced by the initial Headmaster Autobots on their trip to Nebulos seems to have dissuaded him of this idea. Notes

  • In the "fifth season" of the original cartoon, live-action segments featuring Tommy Kennedy and Optimus Prime were created to bookend episode reruns. The episodes were narrated by Optimus Prime under the guise of Tommy needing to write reports about Transformers for school.
