The Combaticons were sent to raid Rutter U.S. Military Base to obtain material for a "smart bomb" to destroy Optimus Prime. Unknowing of the Decepticons' plot, Optimus sent the Protectobots to investigate. To aid Darkwing and Dreadwind in their mission at Alternate Reality, Inc., four of the Combaticons were diverted to the company's warehouse while Blast Off transported the stolen equipment to the Semper Tyrannis.
