Synopsis

As the Autobots face Devastator, Kup is reminded of an earlier battle on Derelictus Five, and he and Thunderclash try out the same tactic they used there. The power line they knock down delivers a hefty shock to Devastator, but not nearly enough to phase the Combiner. Dion is inspired and tells everyone to aim for the knees. The sustained fire finally brings down Devastator, and Dion is congratulated by Magnum. Angry, Megatron orders his army to attack but when Optimus Prime points out that he's facing not one but two leaders, Megatron responds by blasting Magnum with his fusion cannon. As he takes a second shot at Optimus, Dion leaps in front of the Autobot leader and is hit instead. An outraged Optimus shoots Megatron, who begins the retreat as the attack has been a success.

Dion and Magnum are sent to Alpha Trion in critical condition, but he's only able to save one of them, rebuilding the lucky soldier into Ultra Magnus. As the war escalates, Autobot casualties continue to mount. The Micromaster initiative is one of the measures used to reduce energy consumption, while many Autobots flee the planet to escape the war. As the planet's energy supply drops dangerously low, Optimus launches a mission to locate more energy, though many Autobots intended to go on the mission are left behind during an attack on the launch pad.

Elita One interrupts Side Burn's log recording to tell him Alpha Trion is ready. Most of the Autobots are to go into stasis hibernation in special pods, to be awakened when the planet is re-energized. Kup opts to remain operational, though Alpha Trion warns that remaining online when there's little energy will accelerate the aging process...

Notes

  • Among those put in stasis are the Autobots introduced during the second season of The Transformers, as way of explanation as to where they were during season one.
  • Enough time appears to have passed between Alpha Trion rebuilding Ultra Magnus and the Autobots going into stasis for Trion to have grown a beard. Er, however that works for robots.
  • On page 4, there's a guy who looks like First Aid but in blue. It's not a coloring mistake; First Aid wasn't created yet, so that's just a guy who looks like First Aid, but in blue.
