Tom Ray (August 2, 1919April 7, 2010) was an American animation director. Born Thomas Archer Ray in Williams, Arizona, he became involved in animation in the 1930s, getting at job at Warner Bros. in 1937. It wasn't until 56 that he started getting credited on cartoons, and during the 50s and 60s he worked on a multitude of cartoon shorts. He later worked for DePatie-Freleng on the Pink Panther shorts, Hanna Barbera (Hong Kong Phooey), Filmation (SuperFriends) and during the 80s Marvel Productions. As well as The Transformers, he was a director on G.I. Joe, Inhumanoids, and My Little Pony 'n Friends. He was still working on shows such as Animaniacs and The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest up until retiring from the industry in 1998 to set up his own animation art studio, Tomstone Animation.
