Chronology Before the war

Optimus Prime rallies an army to stand against Megatron.

Synopsis

Among the ruins of Nyon, Metroplex claims to know Optimus Prime, explaining that history tends to repeat itself and there is always someone like him ready to fight against chaos. He doesn't join up with the Autobots right away, as he wishes to aid the survivors of Nyon first.

In Triax, Blaster is speaking up against the Decepticon rule via his pirate broadcasting station, Nexis, when he is attacked by Breakdown and Wildrider. He is saved by Optimus Prime, who asks him to help spread the truth to the people of Cybertron. With Blaster's help, the Autobots hijack the Iaconian Newsfeed Service's broadcast feed and use it to transmit a message from Optimus Prime to all oppressed Cybertronians. All across the planet, 'bots listen as he announces his identity and asks them to unite, join him in Iacon and stand up against Megatron. Though surprised that Orion Pax is still alive, Megatron is certain nobody dares oppose his rule... until he looks outside and sees a huge crowd led by Prime marching towards the Citadel. He orders Starscream and his Seekers to destroy them, but they get tied up in air-to-air combat when the Aerialbots arrive, allowing the ground forces to approach the Citadel. Some flee when the building's turrets open fire, but Optimus Prime stands strong, raises their Autobot flag and tells them that they either win today or lose their world forever.

Autobots Decepticons

Notes

  • Silverbolt is accompanied by six unidentifiable Aerialbots. One of the extras is most likely the IDW-original character Barrel Roll, but the identity of the last one is unknown.
  • The scene where Optimus and a few Autobots rise the Autobot sigil is somewhat similar to the Iwo Jima memorial.
  • The issue ends with Megatron saying "it'll take more than you imagine, Optimus Prime", a reference to a similar line from The Transformers: The Movie.

Continuity Errors

  • In Optimus Prime's speech to the population he refers to the Prime lineage as an oppressor, clearly disillusioned with the lineage itself. However, millions of years later he seems to have forgotten about it, since in his Spotlight issue he once again held the Prime line in high regard and respect, only to be dissapointed after learning about Nova Prime and Monstructor.
  • Bumblebee recently claimed to Prowl in Devisive that Blurr was an Autobot before Optimus got the Matrix. It turns out that in this issue Blurr got recruited after Optimus found the Matrix.

Errors

  • Breakdown addresses Wildrider as... Breakdown.
  • On page 6, when Optimus is saying "Nevertheless, the fight goes on." Fight is supposed to be bolded but the t is not bolded.
