Playskool
From MediaWiki
Playskool is Hasbro's brand name for toys designed for small children, famous for products such as Mr. Potato Head. The Go-Bots were produced under this brand.
In Transformers fandom, Playskool (sometimes written "Playskoolish") is also a loosely defined adjective, often used to refer to vehicle modes which one does not like.
Traits commonly leading to a Playskool classication include:
- Having proportions which, to the speaker, are unexpected for that vehicle type (also known as Tonka)
- Lacking clear windows
- Having bright colors
- Being an Armada toy
- Having a lower amount of sculpted detail than an Alternator
To be considered Playskool, a Transformer need not bear any resemblance of any kind to actual Playskool products.
Like most words used by fans in this fashion, Playskool is almost never applied to Generation 1 toys, regardless of the appearances of their vehicle modes.
