This article is about the heroic Decepticon poet. For his evil dictator counterpart, see Straxus (G1). For a list of other meanings, see Straxus (disambiguation).
Straxus is a heroic Decepticon from the Shattered Glass continuity family.
Mercy is not dispensed here, friends, only poetry.

Straxus, the joyous Bard of Darkmount, is perhaps the most venerated poet and playwright of all Cybertronian history. So respected was he that when Straxus withdrew from society as the Transformers' civil war flared, the civil war let him be. And so Straxus lived undisturbed for eons, just beyond the boundaries of his native Darkmount. Curiously, he has suddenly returned to the forefront as his race has begun breaching universal boundaries. This bewilders most, but some suspect he has supernatural insight.

On the battlefield, Straxus can bring even the largest opponent to the knees with his pick axe, and his alt-mode's sonic cannon can shatter steel. "Xal Unbound," his celebrated masterpiece, is believed to be the fulcrum of Cybertronian philosophy and theater.

And so comes the storm, bringing its wrath. Fear us Magnus, for the just are here to strike back!Straxus, "Invasion"

Fiction

Shattered Glass

When Cliffjumper (a lost traveller from another dimension) compared the mental state of the local Optimus Prime to the insanity of the Straxus from his own universe, the Decepticon-aligned Autobot Sideswipe expressed surprise and wondered where Cliffjumper had come from, as he had always enjoyed Straxus's poetry. Shattered Glass

In the mirrorverse, Straxus can go through a space bridge without becoming a head.

When the Decepticons were tipped off by Optimus Prime that Ultra Magnus had escaped his prison on Paradron, Treadshot wasted no time in gathering a team to hunt him down. He took Sir Soundwave, Straxus, and Octopunch through a portal to a strange parallel universe where they encountered Magnus and his army. Here Magnus was after this universe's Rarified Energon so that he could open up a hole in space time to bring its Earth to his Cybertron, destroying them both. But when Straxus and the others appeared and began destroying his Junkion army, Magnus used his stolen Terminus Blade to stage an escape.

Straxus, with the help of that universe's heroic Autobots, continued to keep the Junkions at bay while the others tried to put a stop to Ultra Magnus's scheme. Ultimately, they were able to expand the forcefield surrounding the contraption to cover the entire planet. However, this did not thwart the entirety of Magnus's plan. Magnus wanted to destroy this Earth, yes, but he'd also set in motion the destruction of its entire universe! As Earth was pulled into orbit over their universe's Cybertron, that Earth's entire dimension was destroyed.

The natives of the now-dead universe were understandably upset, so Straxus recited hopeful words from "one of our great progenitors." Invasion

Timelines

He's a poet and we didn't even know i-- okay, fine, it's all we knew.
  • The Bard of Darkmount (Deluxe, 2012)
    • Accessories: Pick-axe/cannon, missile launcher, machine gun, smoke grenade launchers
A redeco of Generations Darkmount, the "Bard of Darkmount" transforms into a half-tracked self-propelled artillery inspired by the South African G6 Rhino, as well as a tripod-mounted howitzer platform called a "battle station". In vehicle mode, the turret can rotate and the barrel can raise. In robot mode, the cannon barrel becomes his trademark pick-axe weapon, while his smaller weapons (featuring C joints) can clip onto various compatible rungs, bars and tubes sculpted onto the vehicle or robot.
"The Bard of Darkmount" was the "attendance freebie" at BotCon 2012, given to attendees who had pre-registered with a Primus Package.
This mold was also used to make Generations Skullgrin.

Notes

  • Straxus's color scheme is based on the bizarrely-colored Straxus head on the cover of Transformers Comic-Magazin #10.
  • Despite being a poet, Straxus's filecard motto has a subject/verb agreement error. Poetic license perhaps?
  • Bard of Darkmount's baggie labeled him "Spraxus."
  • This guy goes on ebay for about ten bucks. Nobody wants him.. nobody needs him anymore...
