The Dinobots were part an Autobot ship convoy fleeing Decepticon pursuit, led by Ultra Magnus. While the Dinobots covered the retreat of the other ships in the convoy, Magnus's fighter was shot down. The Dinobots found the wreck of his ship and were disturbed to find it guarded by the Predacon Backbite. Sensing the handiwork of their nemesis Shockwave, the Dinobots attacked the beast, however once they defeated it, Grimlock went into a berserker rage and attacked Snarl. In the chaos, Backbite revived and captured Swoop, taking him to the Forged, to be "re-forged" along with Ultra Magnus. Rage of the Dinobots #1

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

On September 11, 2012, the Dinobots, excluding Sludge, were made available for download in the Dinobot Destructor Pack on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Steam. [1]

Four members of the Lightning Strike Coalition were captured by Shockwave (while the fifth one was left in stasis lock) after repelling his Insecticon hordes and re-engineered to become much more powerful and transform into alternate forms that resembled creatures he discovered on a distant planet. Though four of the team escaped captivity, renaming themselves the "Dinobots". The Dinobots also found schematics for a new body for Sludge as well, but these were ultimately never used.
