Vertebreak (Prime)
| The name or term "Scourge" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Scourge (disambiguation). |
- Vertebreak is a Predacon from the Aligned continuity family.

The Predacons were never an intelligent lot, but Vertebreak, Experiment #SW26673, takes his bestial nature to extremes—the dragon barely utters a word and prefers to stay in beast mode. He has also taken to his creator, Shockwave, following him around like a rusthound. While Shockwave finds the loyalty somewhat endearing, Vertebreak's incessant attention is making him consider cloning some turbofoxes to distract the simple beast.
Have we mentioned that his name is freaking awesome?

- Prime: Beast Hunters Vertebreak is a redeco of Lazerback, and transforms into a dragon with an opening jaw. His tail detaches to become a whip that is held by his hands via 5mm post. His dragon back hinges over his head in robot mode to become the "Hyena Cannon", a spring-loaded missile launcher which fires a single, double-pronged missile. The launcher itself is attached to a peg-hole on his back, and can be detached for use as a hand-held weapon.
Notes

As depicted in the Transformers: Prime - Beast Hunters Guide Book, Vertebreak was originally named "Scourge", and even after Vertebreak was announced as part of the toyline, it was not clear whether or not he was meant to be the Lazerback repaint depicted in the guide. However, thanks to the guide being republished on Facebook for wider promotion, we now know that Scourge's name and implied green color scheme were merely a preliminary design for Vertebreak. Thanks for tying up that loose end!
