Fiction

IDW Generation 1 continuity

When the Great War broke out, Tyrest made a name for himself by organizing the Exodus, working with Dai Atlas to help as many as twenty million neutrals leave Cybertron. Furthermore, he arranged for peace talks between Optimus Prime and Megatron in search of a "two city-state solution", but was evidently unsuccessful. House of Ambus

Tyrest would later negotiate the Tyrest Accord, a treaty to prevent Transformer tech falling into the hands of other races that both factions adhered to. The Duly Appointed Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord was Ultra Magnus, whom Tyrest himself held in high regard and trusted above all others. You, Me, and Other Revelations It was the Tyrest Accord that convinced Optimus to make him Chief Justice, though nobody was really surprised given Tyrest's earlier accomplishments. House of Ambus

Chief Justice Tyrest sat in on the Aequitas trials, where offending Autobots were sentenced for the atrocities they'd committed. He agreed that the trials would be kept secret until the war's end, and then there'd be a full disclosure. Last Stand of the Wreckers #5 However, the trials were later put on hold at his request, with Tyrest himself disappearing from the public eye shortly thereafter. House of Ambus He also appointed a panel of Autobots to work on the Magnus Inquiry, an investigation regarding the origins of Gideon's Glue. Bullets

Later, Tyrest was no longer an Autobot and had been recognized as neutral by the Galactic Council. Because of this, he was suggested as the third party who should run Megatron's trial. Chaos Theory Part 1 However, due to their communication protocols being scrambled after the Surge, the Autobots were unable to contact him before complications arose and put the whole thing on ice. Lamentations

After the war ended Tyrest retired to Luna 1 where he commanded an army of Titan Hunters and Legislators along with the traitorous Autobot medic Pharma. House of Ambus

Tyrest coordinated, among other things, the return of the Magnus Armour each time the recall trigger homing signal was pushed by the dying host. He was present to receive Lost Light's Ultra Magnus, (containing Minimus Ambus). To a horrified Magnus/Minimus, Tyrest revealed his other project, the real time legislation and execution of Cybertronian Law - a law which Tyrest could edit in real time, as he saw fit. He then divested Magnus of his armour, returning him to his Minimus body. The Divided Self

Using his expanded powers, Tyrest arrested the crew of the Lost Light for one of his new laws, Crimes Against Creation, pending a trial. House of Ambus

Tyrest later told Minimus that he had been troubled with guilt during the Aequitas Trials. Back in Nova Prime's day, Tyrest explained, he had had a hand in making the constructed cold caste of Cybertronians. Many years later during the war crimes trials, he had found that all those individuals charged with atrocities had been constructed cold. His guilt at having produced this fallen subspecies in the first place had caused him to self-mutilate and drill holes into his body as penance.

This didn't quite have an effect until Tyrest managed to drill a hole into his head and give himself both lobotomy and religious epiphany at the same time. Excited at his new belief system, he was now building a space-bridge portal to take him to Cyberutopia to be with the Knights of Cybertron.. He then admitted he could not enter the portal until he had purged himself of his guilt – and now intended to kill every constructed cold Cybertronian in one fell swoop, using a Universal Killswitch.

When Minimus protested, Tyrest had him pre-emptively executed. The Divided Self

Notes

  • According to "Fisitron's Facts", a bonus page in the hardcover edition of Last Stand of the Wreckers, Tyrest was originally to be named "Adjudicus". This was changed to make for a connection to the previously established Tyrest Accord.
