This article is about the Robot Masters Decepticon. For the Robots in Disguise Autobot, see Tow-Line (RID).
Wrecker Hook is a Decepticon from the Robot Masters portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Mailmen named Moe BEWARE.

His own past is a mystery to Wrecker Hook (レッカーフック Rekkā Fukku). With no memory of his creation or who he really is, he stays with the Decepticons, thinking he might find answers one day. He is a skilled mechanic who can effect repairs on most anything, and does so without complaint. He seems to be friends with Wingstun.

On the battlefield, however, Wrecker Hook is a danger to everyone around him, especially once he starts swinging his "Boost Hammer" weapon around. This might be a sign of his past self, or it could just be another result of some scrambled circuits.

Robot Masters

Not from some far-off universal stream where Hook joined the Wreckers.
  • Wrecker Hook (Destron, 2004)
    • Japanese ID number: RM04
    • Accessories: "Aiming Shot" grill-rifle, "Boost Hammer"
As part of the first assortment of Robot Masters, Wrecker Hook is a heavily-painted redeco of the Machine Wars Hoist/Hubcap mold, transforming from a tow truck to robot with a spring-loaded one-step transformation. The grill of the truck detaches to form his "Aiming Shot" blaster weapon.
Unique to this release of the mold is the solitarium weapon called the "Boost Hammer", a clear-plastic flail. It can be combined with the other Decepticons' solitarium weapons to form the "Arsenal Force" megaweapon.
The same mold is used by Robots in Disguise Tow-Line.

Notes

  • There is speculation among fans that Wrecker Hook is the same character as the Robots in Disguise character Tow-Line, who was called "Wrecker Hook" in Japan and used the same mold. This would later gain more ground when Car Robots (the Japanese name for Robots in Disguise) was retconned into being part of the Japanese Generation 1 cartoon continuity, rather than the weird stand-alone it was presented as at first. However, what little fiction he appears in barely acknowledges Wrecker Hook's existence, never mind getting into his real history. His brief cameo in "Metrowar", which had appearnces from several faction-jumpers, is a winking nod at the idea, but it's still never stated outright. For this wiki's purposes no matter how things turn out (assuming we ever even see him again), the two are still listed separately since "Tow-Line" and "Wrecker Hook" are from completely different continuity families anyway, as the Robots in Disguise series is still on its own.
  • It has been speculated that the new-mold weapons in Robot Masters are actually unused accessories from the Takara "LED Powers" Microman series, which was abruptly canceled in late 2000. The last section of the line included transparent plastic weapons that could be combined to form armor or larger weapons for the individual Microman figures. The handle size is also identical between the solitarium parts and the "Shining Tector" Microman weapons.
