Energon Nets are technology from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Player used Energon Net! It's not very effective!

In the rare event that a Transformer's capture is required, there are a number of non-lethal means to carry out this task. One of these is the Energon Net, a glowing blue grid of energon that engulfs and theoretically captures the prey. We specify "theoretically", because Energon Nets are only slightly more effective that throwing a sheet of tissue paper over the target. Seriously, the number of times these things work is vastly outbalanced by the number of times they've failed and the target mech has skipped away, giggling and singing "nyah nyah!"

Hey, if you want results, invest in some Energon Chains.

Hunting groups often carried a large number of Energon Nets with which to attempt to capture their quarry. Energon Nets could also be fired from an Energon Net Gun, though this probably didn't improve their effectiveness. Transformers Legends
