This article is about the Autobot policeman. For the Cybertronian historical event, see Clampdown.
Clamp Down is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.
The reason Red Alert is paranoid.

Assigned to an Earth police force as head of the Interplanetary Personnel Exchange Program along with his brother Deep Cover, Clamp Down (クランプダウン Kuranpu Daun) is a tough, dedicated cop who works tirelessly along with his human partners. Uncomplicated in his way of thinking, the straightforward, sometimes black-and-white view he has taken thanks to the Autobot/Decepticon war occasionally clashes with the views of his new co-workers, not to mention the legal system.

Electro, Mirage, here is your plea deal: I will let you take arms alongside us as long as you admit that it was Pyro who ordered you to smuggle illegal and illicit weapons and war supplies to Cybertron. The commander of Earth Forces has to learn that there are procedures we follow here on Cybertron!
You read Sizzle's report. You know what the battle holds for us, Clamp Down. And yet you still question our efforts to try to mount an adequate resistance? I could maybe see you doubting Sizzle's foresight before but now that we're on the brink of war you still think we should be behind bars?Clamp Down and Electro, "Termination"

Fiction

Binaltech Asterisk

As leader of the Interplanetary Personnel Exchange Program, Clamp Down hoped to promote peaceful cooperation between humans and Transformers. To accomplish this, he paired several Autobots up with humans from different walks of life so that people could see how well the two races might interact. Binaltech Asterisk

  • Clamp Down (Autobot, March 2003)
    • ID number: 91
    • Accessories: Rifle, launcher, 3 missiles
An e-HOBBY exclusive available only in a set with Deep Cover, Clamp Down is a redeco of the original Red Alert toy, transforming into a Lamborghini Countach LP500S, using the exact same base plastic colors, but with different paint and decal applications to make him into a police car. As he was released in Japan, his spring-loaded missile launcher is fully operational. Several factory-applied decals on the original version were replaced by painted tampographs, like his headlamps.
Pre-orders for the set closed on January 10, 2003, with the toys shipping out in March.
The base mold is also used for Sideswipe, Deep Cover and Tigertrack.

Notes

  • Clamp Down's deco is based on the pre-Transformers Diaclone toy that became Red Alert, the "New Countach LP500S Police Car Type".
