Notes

  • Optimus Primal's rescue of the Axalon in the Beast Wars episode "Victory" was an homage to a traditional Superman rescue, complete with "Is it a bird?" "Maybe a plane?" and some very Superman-esque musical cues.
  • Superman, Batman and the rest of the Justice League would've met the Transformers in a comic book crossover pitched by Phil Jimenez: alas, the pitch never came to fruition.[1]
  • Animated Toxitron is an homage to Bizarro, a failed clone of Superman.
  • Between the appearance of Tox-En as a glowing green crystal and its potentially-lethal effect on Transformers, it bears a strong resemblance to Kryptonite, a crystalline substance that greatly weakens Superman when in close proximity.
  • Numerous Transformers voice actors have voiced the Man of Steel over the years, such as Beau Weaver in the Ruby-Spears 1988 Superman cartoon, Michael Daingerfield in the pilot episode of Krypto the Superdog, Crispin Freeman in the Justice League: Heroes video game, Jason Marsden as a teenage Superman in Superman: The Animated Series, Adam Baldwin in the Superman: Doomsday DVD movie and the DC Universe Online MMORPG, David Kaye in the toy pack-in DVD DC Super Friends, David Lodge in the motion comic, Red Son, Travis Willingham in Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, Nolan North in Young Justice and Alan Tudyk in Justice League: War.
  • As with Optimus Prime, Superman is considered an analogue to Jesus.

Foreign names
