The Ark-7 is one of a fleet of numbered Autobot ships designated Ark. They are presumably named after the first legendary lost Ark.

IDW Generation 1 continuity

The Ark-7 was the ship chosen by Optimus Prime to Earth to search for Alpha Trion. Upon arriving at the planet the ship was greeted by a volley of missiles that the deflectors the ship possessed couldn't defend against and a detection system that ghost shields were useless against. To continue the mission Optimus Prime ordered Jetfire to set the ship in orbit of the far side of the moon (much to Jetfire's chagrin) and boarded Sky Lynx alongside Kup, Arcee and Jaws Jazz with the intention of reaching the planets surface through other means.
