Grimlock isn't much for subtlety. Well, he does like to sneak up on the panicked Decepticons that are desperately fleeing the attacks of his aerial partner Swoop, but soon as they get in range of tooth and claw, he becomes a storm of violence, ripping into them mercilessly. Even though he is equipped with some heavy built-in firepower, he'd much rather take the up-close and personal approach to battle, especially bringing out the "big guns" by combining with Swoop to form the monstrous Mega-Dinobot.

Fiction

Force of Habit

During the Unicron Singularity crisis, Grimlock served aboard the Autobot flagship Iron Hope. He was called into action during a Decepticon attack on the ship, and battled Predacon alongside Swoop. Force of Habit

Energon comic

Energon ceased publication before the story could conclude. The following would have taken place in unpublished issues.

Grimlock and Swoop were dispatched by Jetfire to assist against a Terrorcon attack in the Mojave Desert, but they were unable to arrive before an upgraded Demolishor kidnapped Kicker. Armageddon Part 1 The Dinobots were joined by Rad, and assisted by Carlos and Alexis to pursue Demolisher and Kicker. Armageddon Part 2 The rescue team was blstered by Wing Saber, Cliffjumper, and Rodimus, who tracked down Demolishor and the captive Kicker in Mexico. The Autobots battled Demolisher while Rad freed Kicker. Armageddon Part 4 Once free, Kicker used his special powers to channel the energy of all the energon on Earth, using it to utterly destroy Demolishor. Armageddon Part 5

Notes

  • This set was not "mech-designed" or engineered by Takara employees, a rarity for normal-series Transformers toys.
  • Grimlock's online bio at the then-Energon-themed Hasbro Transformers website described him as being "armed to the nines", despite a total absence of weapons and the inability even to use the Energon weapons available in the line due to his fist holes not being compatible with 5mm posts.
