At this point in time, is it really accurate to state that he "joins the Decepticons" if we're specifically referring to the character as portrayed in the movie? Cuz, right now, we do not know if he joins the Decepticon or not at all. While his toys are marketed as Decepticon-factioned toys, it's not unheard of for non-Decepticon villain/antagonist characters to have their toys labeled as Decepticons while the characters themselves remain non-Cons.
