This article is about the fictional race. For the franchise, see Transformers GT: Mission GT-R (franchise).

Over the course of their long war, the Autobots and Decepticons came to develop a mutual respect for each other, and eventually the fighting was replaced by the friendly competition known as the Transformers GT (トランスフォーマーGT). This competition is an annual racing series inspired by the humans' Super GT, found by the Transformers to require both speed as well as strength of the body and mind. The Transformers GT has attracted faction leaders from many different eras, who have scanned racing car modes and dubbed themselves GT Transformers.

Participants make use of both robot and vehicle modes, but have a time limit on on how long they're allowed to stay in robot mode; exceeding it means instant disqualification. Other than that, rules are few, and racers are outright expected to engage in combat during races. Each race features an energon storage device at the goal, accumulating energy as the race goes on, with half of this energy being awarded to the winner. The other half is collected in a stock known as the "Goal Energon", which at the end of the year is awarded to the GT Transformer with the most victories under their belt that season. The amount of energy in this pool is so great that whoever wins the season becomes the most powerful GT Transformer alive.

The Transformers GT also serves to strengthen the Transformers' coexistence with humanity by having humans in the audience and organizing various promotional events with the GT Sisters.[1]
