A fuel intake moderation chip is part of a Transformer's anatomy from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

When imbibing various kinds of intoxicating fuel, a Transformer can elect to disengage their fuel intake moderation chip in order to experience the associated effects, which can range from slurring ones words to passing out dead drunk.

While in a bar on Hedonia, Swerve convinced Ultra Magnus to deactivate his fuel intake moderation chip after drinking a Mood Whiplash. When Magnus immediately went from vertical to horizontal, Skids checked the drink and discovered that Whirl hadn't given him carbonated engex but weapons-grade nucleon instead, requiring Magnus to later have his fuel tanks reconstructed. After Trailcutter got blind drunk in Swerve's and got caught breaking into the Lost Light's medibay to steal Megatron's personal stash of energon, Megatron permanently reactivated his fuel intake moderation chip so that he would never be able to get drunk or take pleasure from drinking again.
