Is it wrong to want to see Nightscream hit on her and get violently shot down?
Sonar is a Maximal in the Beast Wars portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Sonar's superior senses allow her to be the best reconnaissance agent the Maximals have. Her unchecked ferocity, however, make her a danger to both sides.

(Note: Sonar's toy bio, lacking pronouns, is effectively genderless. The Botcon comics seized on this oportunity to add another female Transformer to the ranks. It is yet unknown whether the IDW Beast Wars books will continue to present her as a "her".)

Fiction

Toy Bio

Sonar is another result of Megatron's Transmetal 2 cloning experiments.

Universe: The Wreckers

Sonar was summoned by the Oracle, along with the Wreckers, to embark on a mysterious mission. As the Wreckers were battling their way onto a secret Autobot shuttle, Sonar used a sonic attack to bust up some Vehicons. Shortly after lifting off from Cybertron, however, she was attacked by Devcon. The former Peace Marshall calmed down, and Sonar moved to another part of the shuttle. An explosion of unknown source ripped through the craft. Packrat, in an attempt to save the fore of the ship, self-destructed the aft. Unfortunately, this meant sacrificing Sonar, Spittor, and the Deployers. Rodimus was very displeased to lose his comrades.

IDW Beast Wars comics

Sonar was one of the protoforms jettisoned from the Axalon on prehistoric Earth. She was activated and put in chronal phase by Razorbeast at Magmatron's request, but was protected from Magmatron's Predacon shell-program by Razorbeast's viral code.

Accompanied by Air Hammer, Night Glider, and Prowl, Sonar sped towards Razorbeast and the small group of new Maximals accompanying him. She and a phalanx of other Maximals finally reached them, just in time to fight off an army of Predacons.
