In the early days of the war, Onslaught was a top Autobot cadet at Omnihelix Academy, specializing in battle strategy and tactics. His skill was impressive that he was elected a field leader for the Autobot Elite Guard straight out of the Academy, acting as head of the experimental new Special Ops Team, the Combaticons.
