Commander Andy Reid serves in the United States Air Force. He's a handsome, fresh-faced lad with many admirable qualities, even if he is incapable of telling the difference between cats and dogs.

IDW Generation 1 continuity
When the Decepticons hit New York City, Andy and his squadron were the first part of the United States military sent in to handle the situation. Before going in, Andy thanked his best friend DJ for firing up the troops for him. Unfortunately, the Decepticons set DJ and most of the troops on fire, leaving Andy crashing into the city below. All Hail Megatron #1
He was chased for ten minutes by Ravage the "mechanical dog", and both saved a girl named Sarah and was saved himself by a man named Bridge. The three of them attempted to flee the city, only to find the Holland Tunnel completely jammed full of people and useless. Following that, the Decepticons took out every way out of the city. Andy was not having a fun day. All Hail Megatron #2
While he wanted to search for DJ's girlfriend Meg, his primary focus during the first few days of occupation was to organize a group of civilian refugees into a survivalist group, operating out of a subway station. He made them into a highly organized and disciplined team, so much so that right after he praised them, they forgot everything and started yelling at him at the first sight of an archaic steam engine. Andy made sure a young kid was safely evacuated before the station roof came down on him. All Hail Megatron #3 Sadly, it seemed Andy never made it out, leaving the survivors leaderless and without hope. All Hail Megatron #4
Notes
- In the real world, there is no such rank as "Commander" in the United States Air Force—it's a duty title. This is possibly due to the fact that writer Shane McCarthy is an Australian, whose Royal Air Force does have a Wing Commander rank. Conversely, he may have confused US Air Force aviators with those of the US Navy, which also has a Commander rank. The equivalent to both ranks in the USAF would be a Lieutenant Colonel.
