The Mayhem Attack Squad is a team of Decepticons in the Generation 1 continuity family.

The Mayhem Attack Squad is the Decepticon answer to the Wreckers. The team's lineup is ever-changing, with the most bloodthirty and deadly Decepticons recruited to swell the team's ranks when old members die or desert.

Unlike the Wreckers the Mayhems also have a SWEET ship. When Megatron isn't stealing it, that is.

The team's known members have included: 1st Known Lineup

2nd Known Lineup

3rd Known Lineup Bludgeon (Leader) Octopunch Stranglehold

With Galvatron and Megatron teamed up on Earth and a rift in time and space threatenning to destroy all reality the Decepticons on Cybertron were getting desperate. The Mayhem Attack Squad were teamed with the Autobots' Wreckers and sent to earth in a Decepticon ship to bring down Galvatron and Megatron. Secretly the Mayhems were under orders to kill any surviving Wreckers once the threat of Galvatron and Megatron was over.

Once on Earth the two teams joined with the advance scouts Broadside, Inferno and Sandstorm, and moved to attack Galvatron in his lair.

The battle could have gone... better than it did.

Galvatron imbedded his hand in Battletrap's chest, cannon-blasted Venom and by the time the first skirmish was over only Carnivac, Flywheels and Catilla remained alive.

As the battle was moved above ground Carnivac had a change of heart about killing Springer or letting him die when Springer saved his life. Soon Flywheels was killed, and the battle escalated as more and more Autobots and Decepticons joined.

Ultimately it was neither Wrecker nor Mayhem that would destroy Galvatron, but a rift in time and space.

With the Time Wars over the two surviving Mayhem Attack Squad members found themselves stranded on Earth because Megatron stole their ship to return to Cybertron!

The surviving Mayhems joined with the surviving Wreckers and the stray Autobots Inferno and Skids to form a new team called The Survivors.

Shortly after this Carnivac teamed with Snarler (with Catilla observing) on a mission for Scorponok. The three were given Pretender shells as a reward. Snarler, however, was not impressed when the two former Mayhems refused to rejoin the Decepticons.

Snarler returned to Cybertron and set about recruiting a new Mayhem Attack Squad to destroy Carnivac and Catilla.

While they succeeded in destroying Catilla, they were soon hunted down with a vengeance by Carnivac. Along with his allies the Survivors and Grimlock's Earthforce, Carnivac saw to it that all the members of the Mayhem Attack Squad were either killed or captured.

The three surviving members, Blugeon, Octopunch and Stranglehold, managed to escape from Earthforce by being quiet.

On Cybertron the Mayhem Attack Squad - Bludgeon, Stranglehold, and Octopunch - were assigned to assassinate the Autobot Pretenders Bumblebee, Jazz, and Grimlock. Yesterday's Heroes!

After initially failing to kill the Autobots, the Squad was accidentally sent deep inside Cybertron along with the Autobots. The two groups met inside a huge chamber containing a sleeping Primus, and promptly set about trying to kill each other.

After the Squad had been utterly crushed, Octopunch made one final attack against a distracted Grimlock, which was deflected by Grimlocks armor and ended up hitting Primus in the face. Consequently, Primus awoke, drawing Unicron to his ancient enemy's location.

Octus is a member of the ruling Triumverate who seized control of the Decepticons after the (second) death of Straxus. He is arrogant, lazy, and believes in a rather complacent method of Decepticon rule on Cybertron. Still, he can be pretty funny when he's poking fun at other Decepticon leaders.

Fiction

Marvel UK comics continuity

An unspecified amount of time after the (second) death of Straxus, a triumvirate of Decepticons, ingeniously calling themselves the Triumverate, came to power as the new rulers of Cybertron. Legonis, Octus and Seizer ruled together from their palace at the city Helex, sharing a three-seater throne. Octus had the center seat.

As rulers of Cybertron the Triumverate were too lazy for active aggression against the Autobots. Instead they spent their time enjoying arena fights beween Autobot prisoners and powerful Decepticon warriors (such as Quake), even contemplating pitting Decepticon against Decepticon should they run out of prisoners, rather than going out to get more.

When Straxus-Megatron (it's complicated) arrived on Cybertron with Ravage in tow, he was horrified with the state of things and challenged the Triumverate's rule. Octus baited Megatron, calling him the Decepticon cause's "most celebrated LOONY!"

Legonis shoved Megatron into the area (of the arena), where cannon-boy bashed up a few Decepticons (including Quake, the schmuck) before making a speech about Decepticon values. Realising that they hated not going out and killing Autobots, the Decepticons turned on the Triumverate for being lazy bozos.

The Triggercons shot the Triumverate in the backs, killing them. Octus was blasted by Crankcase, blowing his head off.

Trivia

  • Flywheels is the only team member to have appeared prior to the Mayhem Attack Squad's debut in Time Wars, part 3. It's unknown if he was a member of the team at the time, or if he was made a member because of his impressive performance against Flame's army of Zombies.
