Chop Shop was among the Decepticons held prisoner aboard the Alchemor, and was freed when the ship crash-landed on Earth. He set about stealing and scrounging the parts he needed to construct a spacecraft, however while he was stealing a gyroscope from an airfield, Bumblebee's team found him. He was overcome them in combat, and got away with the gyroscope. He next visited a manufacturing plant to obtain liquid oxygen, but again encountered the Autobots. As Strongarm grabbed his right arm component, Chop Shop made do with a replacement — the Mini-Con Fixit. Though Chop Shop got away with the oxygen, the Autobots tracked him back to his base, and Bumblebee managed to get Fixit to fight back. After being punched a bunch of times by his new right arm, Chop Shop released Fixit, and was subsequently frozen with liquid oxygen. Only his arm component managed to evade capture.
