Before they were known as the "Knights of Unicron," Bumblebee founded "Bumblebee and the Hive in 1978. As the group's lead vocalist, he lead them to greatness... Until his vocal processor was shredded a year later. Forced to leave the band, Bumblebee was left on the sidelines as Optimus took his place in the band's line-up and rechristened it.

During Bumblebee's brief era with the band, Bumblebee and the Hive released the hit single "Cybertronian Rhapsody."

Years after his departure from the band he had founded, Bumblebee was invited back for the Till All are One tour, where he worked as the band's vocal sampler from back stage.
