Trepan's Trigger is a mnemonic effect from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Named after the mnemosurgeon Trepan, Trepan's Trigger is an effect where a certain phrase mnemonically embedded in someone's memories will provoke a certain response. The type of response the person has depends on the type of memories the phrase is tied to.

Chromedome utilized the process of Trepan's Trigger when he was going through Overlord's memories aboard the Lost Light. Remembrance Day The effect of the Trigger he implanted was demonstrated when Rodimus uttered his favorite phrase at the hands of Overlord, causing the phase sixer to falter. Chromedome then revealed to Drift what Trepan's Trigger was and explained how he linked the phrase "'Til all are one" to every time Overlord was defeated. Under Cold Blue Stars

Notes

  • The concept of Trepan's Trigger has its roots in the concept of trauma triggers. Unlike regular triggers, Trepan's are placed intentionally.
