Groundpounder (RID)

Groundpounder is a Decepticon from the Robots in Disguise portion of the Aligned continuity family.

Groundpounder, the "Beast from Kaon" and the "Pulverizer of the Pits", was one of the many gladiators who fought in Kaon's underground death matches. Under the tutelage of his coach Headlock, Groundpounder soon made a name for himself in the arena, using his signature "Fiery Fists of Furnax" and his arsenal of throws to devastating effect.

Unfortunately, fame can be fickle; Headlock and Groundpounder were accused of cheating in a major match and banned from the ring. Groundpounder retaliated the only way he knew how, landing both him and his coach in prison. Things are looking up since he's escaped from the Alchemor, however— Earth is just the place to make a comeback... and he has no problem with letting Headlock play dirty while he roughs up the opposition.

Groundpounder was once one of the greatest gladiators on Cybertron until he and his coach Headlock were accused of cheating and kicked out of the gladiator circuit. Enraged by the accusation, Groundpounder went on a destructive rampage, requiring the deployment of the Elite Guard. Eventually, both he and Headlock were arrested The Champ. Both of them were placed in stasis pods aboard the prison ship Alchemor, but were freed when the ship crashed on Earth. Pilot (Part 1) Both of them hid out at a construction site while Groundpounder began a new training regimen. They were eventually inspired to join a demolition derby. Masquerading as a remotely-controlled robot, Groundpounder challenged the human built monster trucks, and managed to overcome his opponent with the help of Headlock's sabotage. The duo were approached by the show's manager, who offered them a permanent spot in the show.

For their next show, however, Groundpounder discovered his next opponent was another Cybertronian— the Autobot Grimlock, aiming to bring down the crooked duo. The battle became increasingly chaotic and destructive, and began damaging the stadium itself. With Headlock out of commission courtesy of Fixit, Groundpounder left himself open for Grimlock's cannonball attack, and was swiftly incapacitated. The Champ
