Zaptrap (Diaclone)

Zaptrap is a Waruder mech from the Diaclone continuity family.

Zaptrap is a mech with limited AI that works in conjunction with his pilot, Beet-Chit. Both are elder members of the invading Waruder forces—while they have proven their resourcefulness in hunting and foraging material, they are still as simple and one-minded as the rest of the hive. They merely seek to consume, relying little on such things as "tactics" when corralling the swarms towards their goal. Rumor has it that removing Beet-Chit will cause Zaptrap to disintegrate, but none are sure about the truth of this fact.

Zaptrap possesses a heavily-equipped form: his mandibles in beetle form are capable of tearing apart even the toughest metals to gain sustenance for both himself and Beet-Chit. Burst of electricity from his horns are used to stun opponents. In robot mode, he utilizes grenade launchers and gamma ray detonators to attack his enemies.

Due to quantum instability, a number of Waruder troops were transported to Axiom Nexus's distant past when they migrated over to its universe. They formed a hive, and spent the next 20, 000 years undisturbed, evolving and building an elaborate hive deep underground.

Zaptrap/Beet-Chit came to lead his soldiers when one of them signaled that intruders had come upon their hive. Identifying C-81 and his band of criminals as "SPACE. RO-BOTS. EN-E-MY." Zaptrap/Beet-Chit pursued the group with a full squadron of Waruder soldiers, intent on destroying the Cybertronians. Despite more "SPACE. RO-BOTS." joining the fray against them, the Waruders were on the winning side, overpowering their foes with sheer numbers. The battle came to an end when C-81 ripped Beet-Chit out of Zaptrap, and forced the Waruder leader to negotiate peacefully. It is not known whether the Zaptrap mech was brought along when the Waruders migrated off-planet via an interuniversal gate afterwards. Cybertron's Most Wanted

• Zaptrap (BotCon 2015)

Zaptrap is a red, black, gray and blue redeco of the Generations Skrapnel toy. He is roughly the size of a Cyberverse Commander Class toy and transforms into a robotic interpretation of a stag beetle. He was available at BotCon 2015 as an attendee-only bonus figure, and came packaged with Spy-Eye and Beet-Chit. Both smaller figures can be wielded by Zaptrap in Waruder soldier mode via their 5mm post, or mounted on his back in insect mode.

This mold was also retooled into Chop Shop.

Notes

• Zaptrap is either based on or is "Kuwagatrer" (クワガトラー), the Waruder mech sold in the Diaclone toyline that ultimately became Generation 1 Shrapnel. The color scheme was later used to create the new Generation 1 character, Zaptrap, who serves as the source for this character's name.
