Astoria Carlton-Ritz is a human from the cartoon portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
"Didn't I say I never hang out with the Hilton sisters?"

After the death of her father, Astoria Carlton-Ritz inherited his vast fortune as well as his company, Hybrid Technologies. Spoiled rotten, Astoria is mostly a figurehead with little control over the company's goings-on. Instead, she spends most of her time throwing herself lavish parties and wondering why nobody wants to be her friend. She has the bizarre ability to jinx any mechanical device just by coming into contact with it, which is just one more reason why she keeps away from her father's company and its equipment. Her father gave her a necklace with a top secret formula and requested she never take the necklace off. Astoria also has a thing for Powerglide. She probably spends her time with the Hilton sisters.

In one universe, her father's designs were far more sinister, leading her down a path that would intertwine with the forces of Destro and Cobra, under which she would adopt the codename "Chameleon".

While Astoria was throwing herself a birthday party (being attended by the board of her late father's company), the Coneheads came trying to kidnap her, as Megatron believed that she had her father's energy formula. Powerglide, who was passing by, rescued her and took her to the Autobots' New York City base. Optimus Prime, believing that the Decepticons wanted access to the company's industrial capabilities, ordered Powerglide to escort her back home. However, the Coneheads again attacked, this time succeeding in capturing Astoria and leaving Powerglide damaged.

Astoria was taken to the Sky Platform, the Decepticons' new power-gathering facility, where Soundwave and Rumble attempted to interrogate her about her father's formula with the psycho-probe, but got nowhere. Megatron then tried his own hand at interrogating her. What he experienced was frustration beyond anything Starscream could hope to cause. Finally, Powerglide arrived and managed to rescue her. While no one was looking, Astoria destroyed the gem in her necklace, which contained the formula Megatron sought. She was then sent home, while Powerglide seemed to experience some sort of strange reaction in his circuits. The Girl Who Loved Powerglide

Wings Universe

[edit]
Wings Universe is based on the Generation 1 cartoon, but deviates from it in cosmetic ways and continuity points.

In 2012, she visited Autobot City and encountered Dirk Manus. A Flash Forward, Part 2

Legends comic

[edit]

Astoria was one of the many women brought to the Legends World by Tigatron using the ultra-drill in an attempt to get women who liked him better than Springer. It did not work out, as all of the women brought over eventually swooned over Springer. LG19 Springer

Energon Universe

Astoria, as the new head of Hybrid Technologies, decided to visit the Bi-Annual Security Innovation Defense Expo in the newly "liberated" nation of Darklonia. She found herself impressed by the sunny Darklonian summer, but wasn't expecting much from the convention. Mingling with the other guests, talk drifted to how Extensive Enterprises had opted to no-show. It was then that Astoria ran into Destro, the host of the Expo and a friend of her late father Desmond. Things got "interesting" when unmanned drones started bombing the convention. While the other guests evacuated and the situation grew chaotic, Astoria was transfixed by the beauty of the chaos and destruction around her. She was so entranced that Destro had to shove her out of the way of a falling bomb. Thankfully, the explosive turned out to be a dud. Destro #1

During a party she hosted, Astoria was paid a visit by Destro, much to her shock as she believed he died in the Scottish Highlands. She fled the party and was caught off-guard by Scrap-Iron as he launched a missile at her outside. The missile was deactivated by Astoria having an implanted EMP known as a F.L.U.K.E. Pulse, which was created by her father to act as protection for her. Destro figured it out that Astoria was Chameleon, who found the location of his family's tomb he visited in the Scottish Highlands. Destro #2 Destro assumed she was the one that attacked the convention since the drones that attacked him at the Highlands were the same that attacked the convention. Destro #3 Astoria admitted that she did try to rid the world of him in the Highlands only because she believed he knew about her double life, but the convention was attacked by Project Overkill itself, revealing she didn't have full control over it. She said the project was meant for world peace as it would eliminate potential threats around the world before disaster could strike and it was her father's pet project that she and him worked on together. She thought of it as a pipe dream and was eventually contacted by a mysterious donor to make the dream a reality as they had the capital and resources to make it happen. Destro assumed Astoria was afraid of the project, but she revealed she was more in fear of what Project Overkill would do as it was orbiting around the Earth. Destro #4

Astoria, alongside Mercer and Scrap-Iron, attacked M.A.R.S. Industries HQ as it went under new ownership after Destro's cousin Darklon sold the company to the Crimson Twins when Destro was presumed dead. Astoria ordered Overkill to gun down soldiers that made their way out of the facility. After Destro dealt with the Crimson Twins, Astoria and Destro had dinner together and she was wondering if she would meet Cobra Commander, only for Destro to assure her that she might have already met him as he pieced it together that Cobra Commander was the mysterious benefactor that backed Project Overkill with the resources he had. Astoria no longer trusted her father's pet project and was appreciative of Destro having the project to be destroyed by launching warheads at it as they shared a kiss under the explosion. Destro #5

Notes

[edit]
She is probably stronger than Chip Chase.
  • The name "Astoria Carlton-Ritz" is a play on two famous hotels, the [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Waldorf Astoria New York|{{#if:Waldorf Astoria|Waldorf Astoria|Waldorf Astoria New York}}]] and [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company|{{#if:Ritz-Carlton|Ritz-Carlton|The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company}}]].
  • When her mind was being probed, the psycho-probe said that Astoria's mind was "completely empty". Let's not speculate what this means. Let's also not dwell on the fact that sending 90,000 volts through her brain simply made her laugh.
  • She was slammed by Powerglide a few times without getting hurt. (Not that way.) Not to mention, practically thrown out of the room for "jinxing" the controls and pushed off when the Sky Platform was falling.
  • She can tear a Cybertronian metal cover off with her bare hands.
