Before the threat of the Grand Black Hole existed, Wing Saber and Optimus Prime were involved in a rescue mission by Astrea. Under desperate pressure to save the life of a spacefarer, they flew back-to-back with each other in an attempt to escape the debris and get the spaceman to safety. Wing Saber was thrown off from formation and nearly collided with a huge rock, but was apparently saved by Prime. High Speed Fusion—Sonic Convoy

Notes

• In the Cybertron version of the episode, the setting was entirely changed to the "Chaar asteroid belt". This was perhaps because Astrea didn't seem much bigger than Optimus Prime and Wing Saber.
• Just where the spaceman came from is never addressed.
• The episode seems to imply that Wing Saber and Optimus linked up into Sonic Wing Mode for the first time during the Chaar incident, as Wing Saber slams into Prime a couple of times in the present day in an apparent attempt to merge with him again. However, they are never actually seen combining in the flashback.
• "Astrea" probably comes from one variation of the name of [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Astraea|{{#if:||Astraea}}]], a Greek goddess.
