Axe (G1)
| This article is about the neutral guy from the Circle of Light. For the bladed weapon, see Axe (weapon){{#switch:{{#sub:Axe (weapon)|-1}} | != | .= | ?= | .

- Axe is a Transformer from the 2005 IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Physically imposing and powerful, Axe is an influential member of the Circle of Light housed in the new Crystal City. He made a decision to leave Cybertron along with other knights in order to avoid the civil war and save his race's ancient culture. Protective of his home, Axe's commitment to pacifism would be tested after the arrival of Drift and the threat of attack from an alien army.
His weapon of choice is, shockingly, an axe.

Axe's role as protector of his people was evident shortly after their ship landed on an inconspicuous world and his fellow Cybertronians began their plans for building a new home. After bringing Drift into their midst, Wing was confronted and questioned publicly by Axe and Dai Atlas. The latter assigned Wing the task of babysitting the visiting Decepticon at all times and keeping him away from their impressionable populace. Drift #1 Drift #2
When the threat of an alien army of Slavers came to their doorstep, Axe sided with Wing and Drift against Dai Atlas. He declared that he was willing to die to protect the bots, culture and secrets hidden in the city. Axe joined a small group of knights who set up a decoy ship as a ruse. As the enemy army approached their position, Axe introduced a rebuilt Drift to the rest of the knights. Drift #3
Greatly outnumbered, Axe declared that they would all die good deaths. During the fight, Axe noted to Drift that the enemy wasn't engaging him and that now would be the perfect time for betrayal. Drift responded by slicing the head off of the nearest Slaver, to Axe's rousing approval. At the end of the battle, the Cybertronians emerged triumphant, but not without the loss of Wing. After the survivors gathered around Wing's body, Axe questioned Drift about his future plans. Axe witnessed Dai Atlas give the former Decepticon Wing's Great Sword and the title of knight. Drift #4
Axe eventually undertook a quest to find Cyberutopia, succeeding sometime prior to 2018. Cyberutopia turned out to be the ancient medical moon of Mederi, a euthanasia clinic designed to allow visitors to die in a state of euphoria with the facility eventually claiming Axe's life. His corpse was stored in Morgue 10 with Nautica and the Scavengers eventually finding it and bringing his body as proof to Rodimus that something was amiss. Rodimus's group had already figured out where they were but seeing Axe's corpse allowed Rodimus to deduce the connection between Mederi and Cyberutopia. You Are Here

Notes
[edit]- Axe's vehicle-mode design for the Transformers Legends mobile game is copied almost directly from a piece of 2011 fanart drawn by Sara Guyon-Gellin, aka "alteride", which also gave Axe a tank mode.<ref>{{#if: Nicely done, but the game's artist lacks some creativity IMHO. For the design of jet mode in particular. Done and uploaded in 2011. Nice to know my work is good enough that someone officially hired by Hasbro decided there was no need for further adjustment and simply copied his/her own pictures from it :( I mean, couldn't you at least have changed the tail rudders ? </sarcasm> |"Nicely done, but the game's artist lacks some creativity IMHO.
