Backburner

Backburner is a Transformer from The Covenant of Primus portion of the Aligned continuity family.

Backburner was a medical examiner who worked with his paramedic Soaring. He was a notable victim of the Rust Plague, which caused the Age of Rust.

Fiction

The Covenant of Primus

The Rust Plague had quickly spread to the entire crew of a lost cargo ship. All scientific attempts to slow down the Plague failed, and the scientist Technatron recommended all infected worlds be destroyed. Around this time, the medical examiner Backburner and his paramedic Soaring entered another infected vessel, documenting its effect on the ship and its victims. While on the ship, they documented several rooms with corroded structures, tools that crumbled to dust, red dust in the air, and shapeless lumps that were once the crew.

The Rust Plague's infectious nature would take Soaring's life within two hours, much to Backburner's horror. Backburner would show the Council a live feed of the ship, Soaring's body, and his own infected body. Backburner informed the council that he planned to detonate the vessel he and Soaring were on, in the hope that it would prevent further spread.
