Barrage is the toughest member of the Astro Squad. And don't you forget it. He's always first into the firefight, and last to retreat. The minute the team sets foot on the ground, Barrage will go roaring off into the front lines, ignoring things like "rules" or "regulations", or those weird noises his partner Heave keeps making, as Barrage drags him into the fray, whether the little dork wants to be there or not. Outside of battle, though, is a different story. If he's made to deal with anything like scientific research, or fortification, or anything that doesn't involve actually fighting, his mind tends to wander. Probably to when the next battle will be.<ref>More than Meets the Eye #1</ref>

I basically have a complete alt-mode. Which is lucky, because it saves me the embarrassment of being combined with a guy called "Heave"...
  • Astro Squad (Micromaster Combiner Squad, 1990)
Released in the seventh and final year of the original Hasbro Transformers toyline in the US (sixth and non-final year in Europe), Barrage transforms into a gray wheeled truck that is intended to be the front half of a lunar exploration vehicle that he forms with his combiner partner Heave. As a Micromaster Combiner, he can of course combine with any other Micromaster Combiner or Micromaster Combiner Transport to form new vehicles.
He was only available in a six-pack with his fellow Astro Squad members Heave, Blast Master, Missile Master, Moonrock, and Phaser.

  • Radar Hover W Team (Micro Transformer W Team, 1991)
  • ID number: C-366
  • Accessories: Micro Trailer #6
A year later, Barrage was released in the Return of Convoy part of the original Takara Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers toyline, as part of the Radar Hover W Team.
The other three toys in the set are Heave, Power Run, and Strikedown, all identical to their Hasbro-release versions. The set also comes with Micro Trailer #6, a storage/launching vehicle for Micromasters which can also attach to a Micromaster half-vehicle, plus a decal sheet with extra stickers to adorn your Micromasters with.
