Battle of the Mine

The Battle of the Mine was a battle between Optimus Prime's Autobots and Megatron's Decepticons on Earth over a space bridge constructed by Megatron to invade Cybertron.

After being abducted by Megatron, Isaac Sumdac was forced to work on reverse-engineering a space bridge using schematics stolen from the Orion. The Elite Guard However, Sumdac sabotaged the plans for the device, so the Constructicons were put to work in building an ineffective bridge. To correct this, Megatron kidnapped the best space bridge technician that existed, Bulkhead. Bulkhead, unknowing of Sumdac's sabotage and threatened by the use of the Headmaster unit on him, corrected Sumdac's plans and the space bridge began operation. As the bridge glowed, Optimus Prime and his Autobots, pointed to the Decepticons' hideout by covert agent Blurr, arrived to save Bulkhead, but were immediately immobilized by the Constructicons. Meanwhile, Ratchet and Sari Sumdac went to the Orion in an attempt to activate it.

Just as Megatron's plans seemed to reach fruition, Starscream and his clones blasted open the roof of the mine. A Bridge Too Close, Part I The Starscreams attacked Megatron and, in the ensuing confusion, Blurr, Skywarp, and Thundercracker were thrown through the space bridge to a random location in the galaxy. Sumdac ended the threat of Starscream by cutting his head off with the Headmaster, but was defeated himself by Megatron. The Autobots were immobilized once again and the remaining Starscream clones pledged loyalty to Megatron.

Just as Megatron was about to throw Optimus Prime into the space bridge as a test, the mine was attacked once again, this time by the activated Orion. The Orion transformed into Omega Supreme and easily defeated the Decepticons sent out to attack him. Megatron, needing additional power for the bridge, used the AllSpark fragment embedded in Starscream's head. This caused the bridge to overload, sucking in all nearby matter. Megatron and Starscream were sent to parts unknown in space and Omega Supreme prevented the situation from escalating by absorbing the transwarp energies in a process that collapsed the space bridge and transported Omega elsewhere.
